This is a very new thing for me never having blogged before but a friend and student of mine started an awesome new nutrition blog (trendyveggies.blogspot.com) which inspired me to want to do the same about fitness in general!
I recently started a 12 week fitness competition and thought, what better time to try something new and blog about fitness advice, nutrition tips, exercises, and my personal journey in the fitness world! Hopefully this will help me stay on track as well as help others in their own fitness adventures!
So let me start by telling you a little about myself! My name is Molly and I am a personal trainer, sports nutritionist and group exercise instructor. I also teach chorus, drama, art and dance to at risk youth at a nonprofit community center. I play rugby for the Pittsburgh Angels and I am married to a wonderful and equally busy person named Dan! I am sure I am not alone when I say that being busy has been my biggest challenge in maintaining a healthy lifestyle!
Every day, we put so many things in front of our health that by the time we think about what we ate for the day, and how we missed our workout, it is too late to fix either. Our career, school, family, friends all take priority over working out and eating well but it does not have to be a this or that scenario, you can have it all and do it all, I promise!
The most important thing you have to do, is remember that your health should fit in among all of the other important things in your life, and you have to set aside time to make it a priority just like you set aside time to go to work every day, stay in touch with friends and family and go to school. Just like you schedule in appointments in your planner, you must also schedule in time to not only work out, but eat!
The hardest thing about a healthy lifestyle is hands down, the food, but there are a lot of things that you can do to make this a lot easier! I bought two great insulated bags that look just like purses but do a really great job of keeping my food either hot or cold! About two or three times a week, I take about an hour at night to get all of my meals in order for the next couple of days; this is without a doubt the easiest way to stay clean on your diet, and it does not take long at all!
I boil a carton of eggs, grill chicken, cook ground turkey, fix quinoa, grill asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower and then weigh it all out and put it in containers that are easy to grab. Every morning before work while my water is boiling for my oatmeal, I grab all of my prepared meals and put them all in my bags for the day. I set an alarm on my phone to go off every 3 hours and take out one of the meals and eat it, and there you go! No matter where I am, or what I am doing, I am eating clean on the go!
Now once you get the food down, you are well along your way of leading a healthier lifestyle! You will feel so much better just by making smart choices with your food, and it will be a lot easier then figuring out what you are going to eat for each meal. Working out is also an extremely important part of the process as well, but I will have more on that later! For now I will leave you with a great quote from IFBB figure pro Ava Cowan's site www.AvaCowan.com
"It is not because things are difficult that we do not dare, it is because we do not dare that they are difficult."
Until next time, keep your head up, your negative influences down and your attitude shining bright!
Fitfully yours,
Molly
